Recycling
Outagamie County has a mandatory recycling program.
Recyclables are picked up every other week at the curbside. Place your
recyclables on the opposite side of your weekly garbage so it can be easily
distinguished from the regular garbage. Garbage cans can be used for recyclables
but the container must have a sticker. Stickers are available at the Town
Hall.
If your recyclables were not picked up or
if they were red tagged and you have questions, you can call our carrier
"Wittenberg Disposal" directly at 1-888-804-8556. This is their
customer service number.

On a
holiday week, your garbage day is pushed back a day. Thursday's pickup is
on Friday and Friday's pickup is on Saturday. This is regardless of what
day the holiday falls on.

What can be
recycled?
- Glass Most of the glass bottles and jars we use
can be recycled. This includes clear, brown or green bottles and jars, soda,
beer, juice and other glass food containers, blue, green, rose and yellow
tinted glass.
Lids and caps must be removed. There is
no need to remove labels. Bottles must be rinsed.
Do not recycle ceramic
cups, plates and bottle tops, clay flower pots, drinking glasses, crystal,
plate glass, auto windshields, opaque glass, light bulbs, ovenware and
window glass.
Empty metal cans only.
Rinse can out. There is no need to remove paper labels. Remove plastic caps
from aerosol cans.
Do not recycle
Paint cans, pesticide aerosol cans, pots and pans, car parts, nails and
screws, sheet metal small appliances.
- Plastic Its easy to determine which plastics
can be recycled. Just look for these symbols on the bottom of the plastic: 1
PETE and 2HDPE with a neck and screw-top cap. Soda bottles, peanut butter
jars, milk and water jugs, laundry bottles, vinegar bottles, shampoo,
conditioner, lotion and cosmetic bottles, syrup, juice, cooking oil
containers can all be recycled.
Rinse out. Remove lids and caps. It is not
necessary to remove labels. A guide to use is if the top is smaller than
the bottom, it is recyclable.
Do not recycle
Brown of blue plastic, all plastic bags (even 2), yogurt and cottage cheese
type tub containers, motor oil bottles, anti-freeze containers, plastic with
codes 3 and 7, styrofoam or microwave containers, solvent, paint, adhesive
containers, medical supplies, plastic toys, flowerpots, garden plastics,
pesticide or herbicide containers.
- Paper Do recycle the following papers:
Newspapers and inserts, magazines and books, junk mail and envelopes, phone
books and catalogs, writing paper and copier paper, corrugated cardboard
(boxes should be flattened, if possible to save space and cut into pieces no
larger than 3 X 3, grocery bags, box board and non-corrugated
cardboard.
Put newspapers and corrugated cardboard
in a brown paper bag, a 3 X 3 cardboard box, or reusable container
marked with a recycling sticker. Do not bundle.
Do not recycle Paper
that is contaminated with food, grease or other debris, tissue products,
frozen food boxes, dairy containers, gift wrapping paper.
What do I
do with:
- Latex and oil-based paints
Remove lid from can and let the paint dry in the can or spread on
newspapers. Dispose of the dried paint and the dry, empty cans with lids off
in with your trash. For large amounts of paint, mix in an equal amount
of cat litter, sawdust or oil dry and allow it to dry. It can them be
place with your regular garbage. Leave the cover off so the waste
collector can see the paint is hardened.
- Tires In conjunction
with the County Clean Sweep program, the Town of Greenville accepts used
tires twice each year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Check the
Hot Topics page for clean sweep days and tire drop off days. Tires are to be
dropped off only during the designated times. This is for residents only. No
businesses.
Tires are also accepted at the County Landfill site during
operational hours. There is a disposal fee based on size and number of tires.
17" tires or less are $1.50 per tire. 18" or larger are $4.00
each. More than 5 tires per load is $125.00 per ton. Rims on tires are acceptable.
- Vehicle Batteries Batteries
can be brought to the landfill facility during operating hours for
recycling. At the present time, there is no charge for this service.
- Antifreeze, gas or other hazardous
household materials Outagamie County holds a household
hazardous waste clean sweep program in April and September each year. See
Clerks page for more info.
Outagamie County Landfill hours are 7:00 a.m.
until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Every Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00
a.m. No Wednesday's.
Hazardous Waste collections are now every month
at different locations from May - October every year.
