Building Permits
Building permits are required for most types of work such as
additions, remodeling, windows, electrical and plumbing work and etc. Permits
are required for all out buildings even if they are not considered permanent.
Permits are not required for new siding, roofing or for driveway installation.
Heating permits are required for air conditioning and furnace changes.
MONITORING MANHOLES ARE REQUIRED IN THE SANITARY
DISTRICT
Any outstanding balances for sewer and water
laterals will be due with the building permit regardless of who owns the lot at
the time the permit is taken out. The permit will not be issued until these fees
are paid.
An approved backwater valve shall
be installed in the sanitary sewer lateral of every new building upstream of the
first inside clean out and downstream of the first floor drain and shall be
accessible to the property owner for service or replacement (4-14-03).

| Final Inspection (occupancy) |
Inspection to be made prior to occupancy of
the structure (or portion thereof) for which the permits were obtained.
This inspection will cover all trades for which permits were issued. |
It is the responsibility of the Contractor of the
trade involved to contact the Inspection Department for the required inspection.
The Inspector will respond as soon as possible (the Municipal Code requires that
be within 48 hours); however, it is requested that as much advance notice as
possible be given so that the inspection can be scheduled in an orderly fashion.
