Airport Water Tower Now in Service
The 300,000 gallon water tower at the airport is now back in service after more than seven years of being out of service.

This tower will provide additional storage and fire protection for citizens and the Greenville industrial park.   As Greenville continues to grow, we have a definite need for the additional storage.  A new tower would not be possible in the Town's industrial park due to the airport.

This project was completed for about 20% of the cost of a new tower.   The cost for building a new tower of this size is between $1.2 and 1.5 million.   Additionally, there is a significant operational cost reduction for the Sanitary District's electric utility bills for pumping.  As a result of the additional storage, pumping can wait until after 9:00 p.m. at the “off hours” electric utility rate.

It is expected this tower will be in service until 2040 before any major maintenance will be needed.
