GIS Department

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Town of Greenville GIS staff is to support the activities of the Town and its citizens by providing and maintaining accurate, current and complete geospatial data. We strive to increase operating efficiency by providing town administration and departments with data analysis tools for decision making.

What is GIS?
Geographic Information System (GIS) software captures, manages, analyzes, and displays geographically referenced information.

The Town of Greenville utilizes Esri’s ArcGIS technology to provide the town residents access to general maps as well as to efficiently and effectively provide infrastructure data to town employees. This helps employees update current assets and collect new data. The technology reduces operating costs, time and labor-intensive tasks, and improves budgeting and maintenance programs.  The Town recieved a Special Acievement in GIS (SAG) award at the Esri International User Confernce in San Diego in 2014 for its vision, leadership, hard work, and innovative use of Esri's GIS technology.

The GIS staff maintains data sets such as street trees, water and sanitary infrastructure, street signs, Tier II hazardous materials facilities, and stormwater BMPs. They also utilize parcel and address data from Outagamie County.

GIS software helps answer questions and solve problems by looking at this data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared—on a map!
