Park Planning

Park Planning
The Park, Recreation and Forestry Committee along with Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department staff are responsible for the planning of the development and maintenance of the Village’s parks and recreation facilities. Many tools are used in when planning including meetings, surveys and comments. Citizen input is vital for successful planning. That’s why we need to hear from you. To provide your input you can attend a Park, Recreation and Forestry Committee meeting, fill out one of our periodic surveys or send us an email. Remember, we won’t know what you’d like unless you tell us.

Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan:
A Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) is a document that provides guidance for future parks and open space development and acquisition that are intended to improve the quality of life for  residents.  Proper implementation of this plan, over time, will provide the Village with a park and open space system that is designed to meet the needs of the citizens both in types of facilities and distribution of those facilities. The plan guides the Park, Recreation and Forestry Committee and staff when making recommendations to the Village Board on the acquisition, development and management of parks and open space in Greenville. It is instrumental in developing the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department Capital Improvement Plan budget (CIP).

Originally drafted in 1992, the CORP is updated every five years to maintain the Village's grant eligibility requirements from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Hoffman Park Master Plan:
The Hoffman Park property is a 6.86 acre parcel located along the west side of Priscilla Lane in the southeast part of Greenville. The property was donated to the community by Paul J. Hoffman in 2016 for the purpose of developing a future park. Approximately 5 acres of the property is available for active development with the remainder as natural areas and wetland.

In 2023, the Park, Recreation and Forestry Committee and staff are kicking off the master planning process for the development of this park. Materials developed during the planning process, and other sources of information, will be posted here for public review, consideration and comment when available. If you have any thoughts or ideas about the development of this park property, please share them with Tony Nowak, Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry at tnowak@greenvillewi.gov

Greenville Sports Complex Master Plan:
The Greenville Sports Complex is a 75 acre property that the Village acquired in 2004 for the future development of a new community sized park. There is currently approximately 12 acres of field space being used primarily by Fox Cities United Soccer for their programming. In 2022 an additional 8 acres of field space was added to accommodate additional use.

The current Master Plan, developed in 2019 and revised in 2023, calls for the eventual construction of 6 soccer fields, 4 baseball fields, splash pad, playgrounds, ice rink, dog park, picnic shelters and a network of trails.
